An escape from Seattle for an elopement under the trees
Terra and Dominique are one of the kindest, most thoughtful couples I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I was thrilled when they contacted me to photograph their Mount Rainier elopement. Actually, now that I think of it, they weren’t actually sure where they wanted to have their ceremony at that point. But they did know that it would be held somewhere in the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest, and they figured that a hike would likely be involved.
Living in Seattle we know all too well that the weather can be unpredictable in October, so they spent many weekends leading up to the wedding scouting for places that would provide protection from the rain if needed. Eventually they came up with the perfect idea – to have the ceremony under Mount Rainier’s famous giants in the Grove of the Patriarchs! This made so much sense, because it was beautiful and easy for everyone to get to, including the two other witnesses, Terra’s New York city-slicker sister and nephew.
As luck would have it, the day turned out to be sunny and gorgeous! An awesome day to photograph a Mount Rainier elopement under the trees! The ceremony was very intimate and sweet, held under one of the grove’s most gigantic trees. Terra and Dominique had beautiful wood rings made by David and Nicola of Touch Wood Rings. As a fellow nature lover, I spent a lot of time photographing these while trying not to drool all over them! We had a lot of fun, taking as much time as we needed for the ceremony, the photos, and even some champaign.
I love these kinds of weddings, because there is no pressure, no rush, and no stress! It also helps when the couple is as amazing as these two! Congratulations Terra and Dominique!
