I really enjoy being a wedding photographer in Seattle! First of all, Seattle is a fun and interesting city to reside in. But the real quality for me is the proximity to countless stunning landscapes and photographic opportunities, especially those accessible to a local wedding photographer.
The shear quantity of city parks is impressive to me. According to the Seattle Parks and Recreation website, there are over 400 parks, many of which are stunning settings for weddings in Seattle. I have had the opportunity to photograph weddings and engagements at some of our best urban parks, like Parsons Gardens and Golden Gardens.
It’s not just the parks though. As far as weddings go, Seattle has such a diverse collection of wedding venues from the eclectic, to the rustic, to the sophisticated. All right here in the city! Living and working in the city, I love being only a 5-15 minute drive from any of my favorite wedding venues. My new favorite venue, Fremont Mischief Distillery, has all you could ask for in a small urban wedding venue: A small stage for the ceremony, plenty of street parking, proximity to Fremont and several great photo spots, and a unique rustic/urban charm.
If you’re not a city person, I totally identify with you on that! I may live in Seattle, but that is mostly for convenience. The good news is that there are SO many incredible locations just outside of Seattle and beyond! And as a Seattle photographer, this is still super convenient for me and a nice change from the city weddings.
I’ve been hired here as a destination wedding photographer, because people travel to the gorgeous Northwest just to get married. This whole area has wedding destination potential! In my opinion, the best of the Northwest is 30 minutes to 3 hours away, by car and sometimes by boat. You can even incorporate a boat into your wedding, like with an Argosy cruise!
There are so many options available, you will no doubt have trouble deciding on a venue. But as a Seattle wedding photographer, I can tell you that I’ve seen a lot of what this area has to offer, and I’d be happy to give you some advice based on your needs. Next to photography, venues are my very favorite parts of a wedding, and I always pay attention even if I’m not shooting at one. I regularly attend open houses just to check out venues… well, and to eat of course. If you are curious about any of the venue photos I have posted, just click on them to get more information. And if you end up booking one of those venues, tell ’em who sent ya!
